Theater Museum in Helsinki

Today, we visited Teatterimuseo, Theater Museum @ Cable Factory in Ruoholahti.

Ruoholahti is located in the west part of Helsinki. You can get there by Metro within 10min from central railway station. Also tram number 8 will take you just in front of the Cable Factory.

On the second floor, you can find masks from all over the world, including Japanese traditional “Noh” masks.

And you will see many different kind of costumes inside, and you can also try it.

We, future guides, talked about ourselves, attitudes, how to use microphone, our stories and favourite part of Helsinki etc… We also played in a group, which refreshed us.

Also we made up own stories in a group with today’s topics, and “play”ed with unique costumes at the theatre. What a experience!

Paasitorni

Today, we visited Paasitorni, which is located in Hakaniemi.

Paasitorni, nowadays, there are about 30 meeting and event rooms, hotel, and four restaurants. Also the floating restaurant, Pavilijonki, that I was writing about the other day, is just in front of the building.

There are about 30 meeting and event rooms, as I mentioned. The decorations are very unique. This painting is in Halonen’s room. You know who she is.

Very cute paintings with tools.

On the way to the tower…

Outside is so stony, but inside, especially just below the tower top, you find heaps of woods in the building.

View from Paasitorni. Wow! Please visit, if you have a chance!

We went to Hot Air Balloon in August in Helsinki.

At first, we went to Kaivopuisto to prepare for a flight. But because of the wind, we moved to Jollas (east Helsinki) and we flew from there.

Breathtakingly beautiful…

Sokos Hotel Torni

The other day, we stayed at Sokos Hotel Torni. Torni means “tower”. You can easily find it from Stockmann, for example.

We stayed at “Solo Up Queen with view” room. Hotel torni is actually very old building built in 1931, but it was renovated about 10 years ago to this modern room. You can see shower room from the room!

And don’t forget to visit the hotel bar with splendid view on the top of the tower. You MUST also visit to the toilet with big window with view!!

Meripavilijonki

The other day, I went out for dinner at Meripaviljonki with my friends.

It is a new “floating” restaurant in Hakaniemi.

We ordered “Fisherman” menu for 45.50€/person. This seafood platter is for two persons. Unfortunately, oysters were out of stock. But we enjoyed it very much and there were heaps of seafood that we cannot eat them all…

Next time, I have to come back in Summer time!!

The National Museum of Finland

We visited to The National Museum of Finland on 08FEB, 2016.

Professor Matti Klinge gave us a special lecture on Finnish history. He has published many books and also translated in many languages (incl. Japanese)

Romanticism and the Home.

In the corner, you can find some handicrafts. In 19th century, wives and children were doing handicrafts at home to support their households.

In the lecture, he talked about wars, Finnish languages, educations etc. He was so friendly that he answered all the questions from us and also he is a person who has a sense of humour. I got his signature on my book!
